Every time I make my way up the winding road to Snowmass Village, surrounded by snow-covered pines and sparkling snow, nostalgia for this surreal landscape floods my senses.
There’s something indescribable about arriving in Snowmass. From the initial glimpse of sprawling mountains to the goosebumps that come with trying a new outdoor sport, Snowmass has a certain magic that sticks with you.
On my first visit to the mountain, I learned to ski, stumbling along the beginner slopes just like all the other newcomers. But it wasn’t long before the sensation of gliding down the slopes became second nature. Day by day, my passion for the sport grew, and soon enough, I was a seasoned Snowmass skier, effortlessly navigating the endless runs and trails. There’s a euphoric feeling in mastering the terrain—it truly made me feel on top of the world. The beauty of Snowmass always took my breath away, whether on a bright bluebird day with vast Coloradan skies overhead or on a quiet winter morning with just the whisper of fresh snow as my company.
The more time I spent on the mountain, the more I realized Snowmass offered far more than beautiful scenery and thrill-seeking sports. The community here always welcomed me back with open arms, regardless of how much time had passed since my last visit. From spontaneous chats with strangers on the chairlift to the sound of friends laughing at an après ski celebration, Snowmass makes you feel at home. It’s where connections come easily, whether you’re a local, a regular visitor, or new to the mountain. This sense of belonging is rare, and it kept me coming back year after year.
This unique sense of community pulled me back to Snowmass after I graduated from college 1,000 miles away. I enjoyed university, but the deep-rooted connection I felt with Snowmass was even stronger, and I wanted to celebrate the end of this chapter by doing what I loved most—skiing. On graduation day, I wore my cap and gown to the top of the mountain, marking the occasion with a run down the slopes. It felt momentous and perfectly fitting, a personal tribute to a place that had shaped me.
I love celebrating life’s big moments at Snowmass, so when I met a fellow outdoor enthusiast who shared my sense of adventure, it felt natural to experience the slopes together. With over 3,300 acres of terrain, my soon-to-be fiancé and I spent countless hours exploring the heart of the Colorado Rockies. Powder days filled us with pure joy, and on bluebird days, we sat back to soak in the sun. After a few weeks of carving through the trails, I remember turning to my fiancé—we both had that look that said, we’re hooked. Skiing became a shared passion that deepened our bond.
It took just a month of calling this place home before we invited friends and family to experience Snowmass alongside us. Sharing this place with our loved ones is still one of my most treasured experiences. I remember watching snowflakes fall as we cozied up by the fire, preparing for the next run. With our family skiing down the mountain behind us, we ended each day laughing around the kitchen, pinching ourselves that this sweet place was our new reality.
Snowmass Village isn’t just another destination; it’s a part of our story. We plan to continue building memories here, and one day, we hope to share our love for Snowmass with our future kids. The traditions, the thrill of the mountains, and the warmth of this community have become a part of us. And so, we look forward to passing along our passion for this place and creating new memories together on these slopes.
