Snowmass Village, Colo., (July 25, 2024) – August sees the continuation of new Snowmass events and the culmination of many of Snowmass’ iconic local favorites. New events include the Community Ice Cream Social, Snowmass Americana Music Series, and Community Dog Wash Day, not to mention the return of the Plein Air Art Festival, Cidermass, and JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience. Don’t miss the last nights of the Snowmass Free Concert Series and the final chances to attend the Snowmass Rodeo, celebrating a hugely successful 50th anniversary season.

August 2024 Event Lineup 

 

*New – Community Ice Cream Social – August 2: From 3:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., head down to Snowmass Town Park for an ice-cold community gathering, featuring free ice cream from The Dreamery, lawn games, and community fun. *New – Snowmass Americana Music Series – August 3 & August 10: The new Snowmass Americana Music Series features local Colorado bands playing a spectrum of Americana genres, from bluegrass, to folk, to country. All shows are free and take place at 7:00 p.m. at the Rock Garden Stage on the Snowmass Mall. Plein Air Art Festival – August 10-11: The Plein Air Art Festival returns to Snowmass Village for its third consecutive year, August 5-11. Twenty remarkable artists have been selected to spend four days painting the natural beauty and splendor in and around Snowmass. On Saturday, August 10 and Sunday, August 11, the artwork will be judged, displayed, and available for purchase on the Events Lawn in Snowmass Base Village. www.gosnowmass.com/event/plein-air-artfestival/2024-08-10/ 

 

Cidermass – August 17: Cidermass returns to the Snowmass Mall from 2:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., featuring hard cider tastings from more than 30 hard cider, batch distiller, and hard seltzer vendors from all over the country. The evening culminates with a concert by Float Like a Buffalo at the Rock Garden Stage at the end of the Snowmass Mall at 6:00 p.m. www.gosnowmass.com/event/cidermass 

 

*New – Community Dog Wash – August 25: From 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., bring fido out to Snowmass Base Village for a community dog day. A local groomer and pet store will be on hand to provide free nail clippings and treats, while dog costumes and photo opportunities are available, in addition to a do-it-yourself dog washing station. www.gosnowmass.com/event/dog-days-of-summer/2024-07-21/ 

 

JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience – August 30-September 1: JAS Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Experience features three days of world-class performances on multiple stages. 2024 acts include Sting, Brandi Carlile, Tim McGraw, Lukas Nelson, OneRepublic, The Black Crows, Michael Marcagi, and The War and Treaty. www.gosnowmass.com/event/jaslabor-day-experience/    

 

On-Going Weekly Events  

ACES Guided Hikes – Through September 29: Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) returns to Snowmass this summer to lead twice daily hikes. The Snowmass Wildflower Walk begins at 10:00 a.m., on the Nature Trail, while the Ice Age Discovery Walk starts at 1:00 p.m. on the Discovery Trail. Hikes are led by a knowledgeable ACES environmentalist and feature history, facts, trivia, flora and fauna, and possible wildlife sightings. Hikes leave from the Snowmass Mall Ticket Pavilion. Daily through September 4; Saturdays and Sundays only in September: September 7 & 8, September 14 & 15, September 21 & 22, September 28 & 29. www.gosnowmass.com/activity/aces/ 

 

Summer Après – Through September 29: Summer Après in Snowmass is the ultimate destination for live outdoor music, games, and community gatherings. Every Wednesday through Sunday, check out live music on the Tower Stage, activities, games, and special experiences throughout Snowmass Village. This new summer series entices locals and guests to stay and play around Snowmass. Music on the Mall takes place on the Tower Stage from 3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, through September 27, while Wednesdays and Thursdays through August 15 features performances from the Aspen Music Festival & School. Fridays through August 23 features Cornhole Fridays, a competitive, tournament style corn hole competition from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the Rock Garden, located at the top of the Skittles/Sky Cab Gondola. Compete for custom Snowmass swag and prizes! Enjoy Jazz on the Lawn, curated by local musician Josephina Mendez, featuring jazz artists from around Colorado, on the Events Lawn in Snowmass Base Village on Sundays from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., through August 25. www.gosnowmass.com/events  

 

Snowmass Rodeo – Wednesdays, through August 21: The iconic Snowmass Rodeo celebrates its 50th anniversary this summer. This long-standing Western tradition is a Snowmass summer staple, complete with authentic cowboys and cowgirls competing in all the rodeo classics, including barrel riding, saddle bronc, bull riding, and much more. New for the 50th anniversary season, unique acts debut at each rodeo, commemorating 50 years of Snowmass Western Heritage, a 501(c)3 non-profit benefiting scholarships for the rodeo and local community. Also new this summer is the completion of Snowmass Town Park, a multi-year, $6.5 million beautification project featuring new landscaping, parking lot flow, and grounds for the Snowmass Rodeo. The Snowmass Rodeo takes place on Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m., rain or shine. Doors open at 5:00 p.m. for a BBQ Dinner and activities. Snowmass Free Concert Series – Thursdays, through August 22: Celebrating 32 years of free live music this summer, the Snowmass Free Concert Series, a locals’ favorite and long standing summer tradition, returns to Fanny Hill every Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m., through August 22. The weekly outdoor series features a spectrum of sounds including country, reggae, rock, funk, bluegrass, and more. August band highlights include Southern Avenue, Young Dubliners, Tribal Gold feat. Big Chief Juan Pardo, and Huntertones.

Snowmass Ice Age Discovery Explorer Tours – Fridays, through September 27: Did you know Snowmass is the site of the finest ice age fossil discovery in the world? Learn the full story of this remarkable discovery from an Aspen Science Center educator. Every Friday at 3:30 p.m., meet in the Limelight Snowmass lobby to learn about the mammoths and mastodons who used to live in Snowmass, and see replicas of Ice Age animal bones, teeth, tusks and more. Then, follow along on a guided Ice Age Passport Walk through Base Village and the Snowmass Mall to see art inspired by the discovery and earn an Ice Age prize!
