Snowmass Tourism Debuts 2023 Summer Event Lineup

New Events Debut Amidst a Host of Summer Favorites

Snowmass Village, Colo., (February 23, 2023) – Today, Snowmass Tourism announces the event lineup for the 2023 summer season. The lineup includes a new event, Snowmass Déjà Vu, on August 26, by the producers of the ever-popular Snowmass Rendezvous, also returning this summer. Other returning local favorites include Heritage Fire, the Snowmass Rodeo, the Snowmass Balloon Festival, Drishti Yoga & Music Festival, to name a few.

“Summer 2023 should be amazing,” says Rose Abello, Tourism Director, Snowmass Tourism. “This summer’s lineup showcases the best of what Snowmass has to offer – biking, running, hiking, yoga, music, the great outdoors – all magnified by Snowmass’ natural surroundings.”

Summer 2023 Event Lineup

Yarn Bombing Instillation – Any Time: Snowmass Tourism debuts a new community-based art project this summer, focused on the art of yarn bombing. Yarn Bombing is the act of wrapping colorful knitted pieces to objects in public spaces for the pure purpose of art and smiles. Trees and other stationary objects around Snowmass Town Park have been selected for coverage in custom knitted and crocheted pieces, culminating in a colorful spectacle of yarn wrapped objects and arbors. Pieces debut on June 11. Each piece features the artist’s name and a brief bio. The free exhibition takes place outdoors at Snowmass Town Park and remains in place through summer 2023. www.gosnowmass.com/activity/yarn-bombing/

The Collective Snowmass – Daily: The Collective Snowmass, the hub for community activity in Snowmass Base Village, features a robust summer lineup of weekly programming. Returning favorites include Community Bingo, Salsa, and Chess nights; yoga on The Rink with instructor Aaron King; the Snowmass Live Comedy and Music Series; and Movies Under the Stars. In addition, the summer schedule includes new offerings such as Drag Queen Bingo and cooking classes at Mawita with James Beard Nominee Mawa McQueen. The Collective also features yard games, splash pads, fountains, and pop-up events on The Rink. Music on the Mall – Fridays, June 9-September 29: Every Friday, starting June 9, 2023, through September 29, 2023, Music on Mall returns to Snowmass, featuring live music on the Tower Stage from 4:30 – 6:30 p.m. Performances feature local Roaring Fork Valley musicians. www.gosnowmass.com/events

Ragnar Trail Colorado – June 9-10: Ragnar Trail Colorado returns for the 9th year in 2023 for a gritty trifecta of the most scenic trail running loops Mother Nature can serve up. Each trail loop begins and ends at Ragnar Village in Snowmass Town Park. Teams of eight run relay style, rotating through three loops, varying from easy to difficult, over a 24-hour period. The race includes costumes, camaraderie, stunning views, and a host of Ragnar community spirit. www.gosnowmass.com/event/ragnar/

Snowmass Rendezvous – June 10: Snowmass Rendezvous returns to Snowmass for its seventh year of libations and fun. From 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. enjoy endless exploration, games, bottomless adult beverages, tastings, and live music. Tickets give access to multiple Rendezvous venues around the Village, complete with unlimited wine, beer, and spirit tastings, outdoor gear activations, games, and more. End the evening with a free concert on Fanny Hill, presented by Two Parts. Snowmass Free Concert Series – June 15-August 24: Celebrating 31 years of free live music this summer, the Snowmass Free Concert Series, a local’s favorite, long standing summer tradition, returns to Fanny Hill every Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m., June 15-August 24. The weekly outdoor series features a spectrum of sounds including country reggae, rock, funk, bluegrass, and more. Additionally, Snowmass is home to free live music throughout the season at restaurants and venues around Snowmass Village, including one bonus concert on Fanny Hill on Saturday, June 10, part of Snowmass Rendezvous, featuring Goodnight, Texas.  www.gosnowmass.com/events/snowmass-free-concerts/     

ACES Guided Hikes – June 17 – October 1: Aspen Center for Environmental Studies (ACES) returns to Snowmass this summer to lead twice daily hikes. The Nature Trail Hike begins at 10:00 a.m., while the Discovery Trail Hike starts at 1:00 p.m. Hikes are led by a knowledgeable ACES environmentalist and feature history, facts, trivia, flora and fauna, and possible wildlife sightings! Snowmass Rodeo – June 21-August 16: The Snowmass Rodeo celebrates 49 years of operations this summer. This long-standing Western tradition is a Snowmass summer staple, complete with music, cowboys and cowgirls, horses, livestock, and family fun. Elk Camp Gondola – June 21-October 1: Enjoy a ride on the Elk Camp Gondola in Snowmass! Elk Camp Gondola gives access to the Lost Forest, Elk Camp Restaurant, and Snowmass Bike Park. Use Elk Camp as a base to ride 90+ miles of Snowmass trails, part of the Aspen Snowmass/ Roaring Fork Valley IMBA Gold-Level Ride Center, the only Gold-Level Ride Center in Colorado, only the 5th in United States, and the 7th in the world. Snowmass Art Festival – June 24-25: The Snowmass Art Festival is a juried art show featuring original handcrafted artwork. This free two-day event showcases local Colorado and national artists, representing a wide array of mediums including painting, sculpture, photography, ceramics, glass, wood, and more. Taking place on the Snowmass Mall, this outdoor festival is surrounded by a world-class resort, beautiful mountains, countless recreational activities, and outstanding shops, restaurants, and hotels. VNTRbirds Presents VIDA MTB Series – June 24-25: VNTRbirds (venture birds) encourage women through outdoor education and adventure. Women-run and based in the heart of the Rocky Mountains, VNTRbirds brings women to the outdoors through mountain biking, backcountry skiing, splitboarding and community meet ups. These experiences bring women together and help create more confidence and self-reliance in the outdoors. The VIDA MTB Series, June 24-25, provides women with the opportunity to enhance their riding skills, connect with VNTRbirds coaches, and fully immerse themselves into the nitty-gritty of proper biking technique and the confidence needed to tackle new challenges. Over the course of the weekend, participants are grouped with other ladies of like-minded experience and goals so all can progress together in a comfortable and supportive environment. Sunset Tuesdays at Elk Camp – June 27-August 8: Sunset Tuesdays are back at Elk Camp this summer with Elk Camp Restaurant, Snowmass Bike Park, and Lost Forest hosting extended hours on Tuesday evenings from June 27 through August 8, excluding July 4. The experience includes a complimentary ride up the Elk Camp Gondola from 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. to the restaurant where guests can enjoy locally-sourced ingredients in a farm-to-table inspired à la carte dinner with full cash bar, outdoor family activities and live music on the deck. Movies Under the Stars – July 1 – August 19: Returning this summer, Movies Under the Stars, presented by The Collective Snowmass in partnership with Aspen Film and Adventure Entertainment, continues the dusk movie tradition in Snowmass Base Village on most Saturday evenings in July and August. Gather family and friends, pack a picnic, and enjoy free movie screenings at dusk, hosted by The Collective Snowmass. 4th of July Celebration – July 4: Celebrate Independence Day on Tuesday, July 4 in Snowmass! Snowmass Doubles Volleyball Tournament – July 6-9: Volleyball of the Rockies brings this boutique mountain tournament to Snowmass Village again for summer 2023. Drishti Beats Yoga & Music Festival – July 7-9: The 2023 Drishti Beats Yoga & Music Festival in Snowmass Village, CO explores the symbiotic connection between music, yoga, and the outdoors. Each carefully selected yoga class features live music, creating a beautiful and magical experience, led by a notable yoga instructor. Anderson Ranch Arts Center Recognition Week – July 10-15: The annual Anderson Ranch Recognition Week Celebration is a week-long celebration of the International Artist Honoree, with special events, lectures, and opportunities to purchase amazing art and much more all week long. Anderson Ranch Annual Art Auction & Community Picnic – July 15: An Anderson Ranch tradition for over 40 years, the Annual Art Auction & Community Picnic brings people together for an afternoon of fun and excitement. Live and silent auctions feature works of art — typically more than 200 — by top contemporary artists and locals alike. Alongside the auctions are engaging art-based activities for all ages, delicious picnic-style food, and live music. The Annual Art Auction & Community Picnic is the culmination event of Recognition Week (kicking off the week of July 10, with the Recognition Dinner held on Thursday, July 13). Triple Crown World Series – July 19: The Triple Crown World Series returns this summer to the Roaring Fork Valley, giving guests and locals the opportunity to watch the best of youth baseball. Headquartered in Snowmass, the Triple Crown World Series is a Valley-wide sporting event, featuring youth baseball games (9D2, 11D2, 12D2, 14D2) with regional and national attendees. Opening ceremonies take place in Snowmass on July 19, with spectator opportunities available throughout the week. Snowmass Tree-O – July 21-22: The Colorado Brewery Running Series, a Denver based running series, returns to Snowmass for the sixth year of trail running fun. The newly named Snowmass Tree-O (formally 5k on the Mountain) consists of 2k, 5k and 10k trail runs starting and ending on the Snowmass Mall. Runners have the option to race either Friday evening or Saturday morning (or both!). Pick a start time at either 6:00 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. on Friday (2k), 7:30 a.m. (10k), 10:00 a.m. or 12:30 p.m. on Saturday (5k). Heritage Fire – July 29: America’s beloved, live-fire, open-air culinary experience, Heritage Fire, returns to Snowmass Base Village on Saturday, July 29, with an all-star cast of chefs who specialize in whole animal cookery. Heritage Fire Snowmass showcases more than 20 notable chefs, each grilling heritage-breed animals en plein air against the Rocky Mountain backdrop, and each inspired by global food cultures. Audi Snowmass 50 Bike Race – August 5
Aspen Snowmass hosts the Audi Snowmass 50 Bike Race on Saturday, August 5, featuring 25 miles of some of the best single track mountain bike trails in Colorado. Divisions are broken up into 50-mile solo racer (two loops), 25-mile solo racer (one loop) and 50-mile teams of two where each rider completes one 25-mile lap. Plein Air Art Festival – August 5-6: Summer 2023 sees the return of the Plein Air Art Festival to Snowmass Village. Axes & Arms Walk – September 11: Join local first responders for a walk from Town Park Station to the Top of the Village, 956ft, the highest number of feet that the brave New York first responders walked inside the first tower of The World Trade Center.
